What is anger management?

Anger is a basic human emotion. For various reasons due to our upbringing and our culture the appropriate expression of that emotion becomes difficult. Anger management aims to educate you about anger, help you to recognise when you’re starting to become angry and find ways to stay grounded and take the appropriate action that will get the best outcome for you.

What will you get out of completing our anger management course?

By completing the anger management course you will learn both about the cognitive, emotional and physiological aspects of anger. You will also explore the role other factors in your life contribute to your difficulty with anger management such as relationships, family life and work life. The outcomes of the course are as follows:

  • An ability to detect yourself becoming angry far in advance of you behaving in ways you might later regret
  • Techniques for grounding yourself and preventing emotional flooding
  • How to appropriately express frustration and anger in a way that helps you get your needs met without sacrificing the needs of others or their sense of safety

  • Identifying lifestyle changes that you need to make to live a healthier more fulfilling life that is not dominated by frustration and anger

What happens in an anger management course?

Our anger management course is designed to be easy for people to complete who have limited time because of family commitments or their occupations. The first part involves completing a workbook that you can chip away at in your spare time over the course of two weeks. The second part of our anger management course involves a one day workshop with trained counsellors and facilitators. Believe it or not despite getting a lot of work done most participants find the workshop to be enjoyable.

Anger management course dates:

The first part of the course involves completing a workbook at your own pace over a two week period. The second part of the course is a day long workshop. The workshop component of our anger management courses are held on scheduled Sundays in the Melbourne CBD.
